1941. Whilst London is battered by air raids, Felicity ‘Fliss’ Carmichael has troubles of her own. Reeling from her fiancĂ©’s betrayal, she flees to her family home at St. Winifred’s Rectory.

Though heartbroken, Fliss finds purpose again as a journalist. On assignment, she crosses paths with Detective Inspector Timothy Wallace, who shares

her passion for truth and justice - though not necessarily her political beliefs. Despite their differences, an instant spark ignites between them.

In a city under siege, Fliss and Tim forge an unlikely bond. But can their blossoming romance endure the perils ahead?

Ever since I read Jean Fullerton's novel, A Stepney Girl's Secret last year I have been itching to read more of her work. If you would like to read my review of A Stepney Girl's Secret, you can find it by clicking here. When I was offered the opportunity of joining the blog tour for Felicity's War, I did not have to think twice about it and I was not disappointed.

It was a delightful read, and I loved the main character Fliss. She is strong willed and determined and was wonderful to become acquainted with. From the very beginning of the book, I warmed to her bubbly personality.

This is the third in the Stepney Girls series. It continues the story of the Carmichael family. A Stepney Girl's Secret has Prue Carmichael as it's main character. Fliss is Prue's sister and so we can step back into life at the rectory.

The author writes very well, and it was so easy to become involved in the story that I almost felt I was there. She is a great storyteller and has the ability to engage the reader in her story.

The reader becomes immersed in their lives and the reality of living in London during the Blitz. The nightly air raids and having to retreat to the underground shelters felt very real. The author does a great job of bringing the atmosphere of life in East London very much to life.

As one would expect in a book of this genre, there was a love interest running throughout. Fliss is instantly attracted to the policeman, Tim when their paths cross at an early point in the book. It was exciting to see whether they would get together eventually as they sit on such opposite sides of the fence.

It was an uplifting and heartwarming read which I enjoyed very much. I really must get my hands on the second book in the series, A Stepney's Girl's Christmas.
